Nicole Ari Parker has worked in television, film as well as on stage. Her most well-known role was for playing Teri (the vigorous lawyer) Joseph. She was educated in a boarding-school in London between 7 and 9 years. Then, the family moved from London and moved to Toronto, Canada. Then, in Toronto, Contractor excelled in academics and trained as an classical ballerina. She studied at the Etobicoke School of the Arts in Toronto, an arts school focused on theatre and dance. Contractor began acting at age 16 and was a part of the theater for a decade after spending ten years of dance. After graduating high school, she accepted a full award to the University of Toronto, where she completed a masters degree in the field of theatre, and a double major in sociology and psychology. Contractor got her first part following her first year at university. The play was well-received throughout the 92 productions that she performed in. She won an award in 2002, which was awarded to the Best Production of the Year by Canadian Critics. Contractor accepted the invitation to join Stratford's Conservatory. Only eight men selected and four females accepted for the 20-week course in the classical theatre. Contractor received a guaranteed spot in the next season of plays and landed the role of Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
