Nancy O'Dell's professional career started in Myrtle Beach South Carolina as an anchor and news reporter with WPDE-TV. In the following years, she worked as a the morning news anchor as well as a crime reporter for WCBD-TV. In Charleston O'Dell's stories on the lenient police approach to DUI cases caused the launch of a State Law Enforcement Division investigation that led to State authorities issuing the strictest guidelines regarding these cases. Ms. O'Dell received an award for the Best Report of the Award from the Associated Press for South Carolina's media. Following her work in Charleston O'Dell served as anchor, co-anchor, and investigative reporter for NBC's Miami station WTVJ-TV prior to joining Access Hollywood as a weekend anchor as well as a weekday correspondent. O'Dell is the anchor of choice at Access Hollywood. In addition she is a contributor in NBC News Today and Dateline NBC. The anchor has hosted a number of pre-show arrivals to The Emmys as well as The Golden Globe Awards. In addition, she hosted the Miss USA pageant and the Miss Universe pageant.
